Terms of Service

Last updated 5 July 2026.

ifyoufind.me (“the Service”) is operated by the ifyoufind.me team. In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “the Operator” refer to the Service's operator. By visiting a code page, sending or receiving a message, or creating an owner account, you agree to these terms.

What the Service does

ifyoufind.me lets an owner attach a short code to a belonging and lets a finder who discovers that item send the owner a message through us, without either side seeing the other's contact details. See our About page for how it works and our Privacy policy for what we collect.

Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding agreement to create an owner account (typically the age of majority where you live, or you have a parent or guardian's permission). A finder never needs an account to send or read a message.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic to the site. It's on by default, except when your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, in which case it stays off unless you turn it on. You can change this for your browser here at any time, and our Privacy policy explains exactly what is and isn't collected.

Reporting and moderation

Either side of a conversation can report it from the thread itself. We review reports, and we may remove content, freeze or close a conversation, or suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms.

No guarantee of reunification

We broker the conversation; we don't guarantee a lost item will be found, that a finder's message is honest, or that an owner will reply. Use your own judgment, especially before arranging to meet someone or sharing details beyond what a message requires.

Availability and changes to the Service

We provide the Service on an “as is” basis and may add, change, or remove features, or suspend the Service, at any time. We don't promise it will be available without interruption.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the Operator isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or for the conduct of another owner or finder using it.

Ending your access

You can delete your owner account at any time from Account settings, which removes your data as described in our Privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate access for a violation of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do; continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the update.
